Bel·leau Wood (bĕ-lōʹ, bĕlʹō)
A forested area of northern France east of Château-Thierry. In World War I it was the site of a hard-fought victory over the Germans (June 1918), and it now contains a cemetery dedicated to the Americans who died in the battle.
